Wrea
Green
(APPROX
8 MILES FROM BLACKPOOL)
- The home of Lancashire's best kept village,
and one of the prettiest and most active.Wrea
Green was simply known as "Wray"
up until the late nineteenth century. The
village became known as "Wrea Green"
to avoid confusion with the village of Wray,
near Hornby. Indeed, the change of name
was pressed for, by the incumbent vicar
of the day - the long serving Rev. RS Stoney
whose mail was arriving frequently in the
wrong town. >>READ

| Heysham
(APPROX 30 MILES FROM BLACKPOOL)
- Is a tiny village on the edge of
Morecambe Bay, Lancashire, North West England.
Features the parish church of St Peter, first
consecrated in the year 976 and therefore
over 1000 years old. Most of what can be seen
here is younger than that, the belfry added
in the 1600s, the South doorway which replaces
the original Saxon doorway - still visible
in the West wall. It is also obvious that
the church has been expanded a few times with
the nave extended and side chapels added.
