Wrea Green (APPROX 8 MILES FROM BLACKPOOL) - The home of Lancashire's best kept village, and one of the prettiest and most active.Wrea Green was simply known as "Wray" up until the late nineteenth century. The village became known as "Wrea Green" to avoid confusion with the village of Wray, near Hornby. Indeed, the change of name was pressed for, by the incumbent vicar of the day - the long serving Rev. RS Stoney whose mail was arriving frequently in the wrong town. [read more]
Heysham (APPROX 30 MILES FROM BLACKPOOL) - Is a tiny village on the edge of Morecambe Bay, Lancashire, North West England. Features the parish church of St Peter, first consecrated in the year 976 and therefore over 1000 years old. Most of what can be seen here is younger than that, the belfry added in the 1600s, the South doorway which replaces the original Saxon doorway - still visible in the West wall. It is also obvious that the church has been expanded a few times with the nave extended and side chapels added. [read more]

Botany Bay has been established in a converted mill near Chorley, Lancashire. The building is home to a large number of retailers, including several companies offering furniture and home furnishings from around the world. It also offers a Dickensian style retail arcade with shops selling a wide range of unusual goods, a Victorian market square complete with barrows and carts selling Harrogate toffee and handmade chocolates, and a restaurant and coffee bar. To get to Botany Bay, take the M61 heading towards Preston from Manchester and turn off at junction 8, from where the mill is signposted.
