Blackpool
Beach and Seafront
|
| |
| If
you like to be beside the seaside, you’ll
love it on the Lancashire coast. You’ll
be constantly amazed how from one bay to
another there is such a contrast of scenery,
culture and experiences. |

North
Pier Blackpool - The pier was opened
on 23 May 1863 as the "Blackpool Pier".
It had been estimated that 200,000 visitors
would walk along the decking each year,
but 247,000 visited in the pier's first
year with twice the annual target being
met the following year. |

Picture of the Blackpool Pleasure Beach -
The seeds of the Pleasure Beach were
sown around 1896 when John Outhwaite built
his American Merry-go round on the almost-empty
beach amongst the dunes. He was joined later
by William George Bean who leased a 32 acre
site beside the gypsy encampments there.
Home of the Pepsi-Max Big One, one of the
tallest and fastest rollercoaster rides in
the world. |

Sunset
over the Irish Sea -
Blackpool has its romantic moments amongst
all the entertainment and activities. Its
sunset can be glorious, with the sun reflecting
over the sea to create a myriad of colours.
Anyhow, it makes for a nice walk along the
prom. |

During
the season
there are lots of activities on the beach
in Blackpool. With donkeys, shows and ice
creams to deck chairs and family fun. |
